Contact Kol Tikvah President

Welcome to the Temple Kol Tikvah website. We are a diverse community offering a variety of services and programs for exploring and expressing your Jewish identity.  At Temple Kol Tikvah we are all working together to perpetuate our wonderful progress and our growing sense of community. We are committed to creating a community that celebrates Jewish religious heritage, culture and values in a Reform Jewish setting. Located in the West San Fernando Valley of the Greater Los Angeles region, our synagogue community represents the rich diversity of Southern California.

I am honored to be the temple president during this year that marks Kol Tikvah’s 18th Chai Anniversary.  Chai means “life” and we typically say “l’chaim!,” which means “to life!”, at celebrations in anticipation of all the good things to come and good things have come to Kol Tikvah!  This year we are pleased to welcome our new Rabbi, Jonathan Hanish, along with his wife Lisa and their two daughters, Lila and Sydney, into our congregational family.

This year we are also introducing many new programs that include something for everyone. These new programs include an Infant Music Parent & Me class, a Tzedakah Teens program, "It’s a Guy Thing" Retreat for 8th and 9th grade boys and the men who raise them, Monday Night Adult Education Classes, a Men’s Havurah for ECC Dads, Cantors In Training for kids after their Bnei Mitzvahs, Adult Education Courses, Jewish Yoga, Judaism Outdoors which includes hiking events for Holidays, Shabbat, and Havdallah and the Sisterhood.

We welcome you to join us for a Friday evening Shabbat Service and High Holiday services.  You will find our services to be intimate, warm and friendly and they will offer you a wonderful spiritual experience. Please browse our website to find other exciting programs and activities you may want to experience.  You are welcome call our temple office for more information.

If we haven’t met yet, I would like to meet you and get to know you.  You can usually find me at Friday night Shabbat services so please seek me out.  My hope is that by becoming a part of our small, warm and friendly synagogue community, your life will be enriched.

B’Shalom, Laureen Waterman
