B’nai Mitzvah Revolution (BMR)

This journey for the whole family begins in the 4th Grade. The B’nai Mitzvah Revolution (BMR) brings families together to celebrate, learn, and reflect. We strive to spark meaningful conversations, provoke insights and questions as we explore our connection to Judaism and the life challenges that this age group may face. Along the way, families make life-long connections. This program is overseen by Rabbi Jon and has been nationally recognized as an innovative B’nai Mitzvah process that includes the entire family.

L’Dor V’Dor: Generation to Generation

Tikkun Olam, healing the world, is an ethical responsibility for every Jew. Families will learn about ways their child can fulfill their Tikkun Olam requirement and earn their Kemach (Social Action) credits toward their B’nai Mitzvah.

Putting the Mitzvah in B’nai Mitzvah

At this gathering for our families, we celebrate the B’nai Mitzvah journey together, passing important ideas and memories from generation to generation that reflect the importance of B’nai Mitzvah as a life cycle event affecting the entire family.

Havdalah: Welcoming a New Week

Our fourth and fifth grade families learn about the ritual of Havdalah and create their own Havdalah set to use at home.

5th & 6th Grade Parents Only

At this important parents only event, you will receive all the information that you will need to prepare for your child’s B’nai mitzvah. We will review the Blessing over the Torah, hints on how to write the best parent speeches, ways to motivate your child to write thank-you notes, and much more.

Biblical Heroes Bootcamp

Families will reflect on their child’s personal strengths and, with the assistance of a “matchmaker,” pair the child with one of their Biblical ancestors. The children will then teach the community about their Biblical counterparts.

Torah & Traditions

During this game-based program, we celebrate the child’s relationship to their specific Torah portion. Each child will receive their own TaNaKh (Jewish Bible), explore their Torah portion with parents’ and clergy assistance, and then play “Parasha Survivor” where one child will prove their portion is the most important in the Torah.

Tzitzit & Stress

Every child undergoes stress from the pressures of growing up. We will discuss family and pre-teen stressors and learn how to cope with difficult moments. We will also explore the ritual of wearing a tallit and learn how to tie the tzitzit, the fringes found on the corners of a tallit.
