Our Programs

Religious School for 2-year-olds through 6th graders (Sundays weekly from 9:00 – 11:30 a.m.)

We are proud to offer RS programming for students as young as 2-years-old (diapers don’t scare us!) up to 6th grade with a supportive, energetic learning environment committed to inclusive, connective, and empowering Jewish education. We believe in active engagement, hands-on participation, and innovative teaching tailored to diverse learning styles and needs. Our programming creates a sense of community and belonging for students and their families in their personal, educational, religious, and spiritual Jewish journeys.

Hebrew programming: During the Religious school day, we offer multiple points of entry for Hebrew in our programming. Students ages four through eight participate in Hebrew Through Movement (HTM), where students learn Hebrew by hearing and responding to commands offered only in Hebrew. Students in 4th grade through B’nai Mitzvah are placed into level-specific Hebrew pods, where they learn to decode and recite prayers and songs. Every week, all students receive Jewish Life Vocabulary and attend Tefilah (prayer) with our clergy. A year prior to a child’s B’nai Mitzvah, students begin 1:1 weekly Hebrew tutoring so that they are fully prepared to work with the clergy for their B’nai Mitzvah ceremony.

*Families in 3rd – 6th grade can choose to send their children to Sunday OR Tuesday Religious School (Tuesdays weekly from 4:00 – 6:30 pm).

Weekly Tuesday Religious School for 7th and 8th graders (6:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, dinner provided)

We invite 7th and 8th graders to join us weekly on Tuesday evenings for Teen Tuesdays, where they will continue their Jewish educational journeys with their peers. Previous topics have included American Jewish History and Jewish Identity through Art Making. Attendance at Teen Tuesdays is required for B’nai Mitzvah students.

Kemach (One Sunday every other month)

Instead of a Mitzvah Project, which is a common project of B’nai Mitzvah students, KTRS students participate in our Kemach program. Beginning in 4th grade, every student is required to earn a minimum of 13 Kemach (literal translation: sustenance) points before their B’nai Mitzvah. They receive points through attending volunteering events at Kol Tikvah that address local and global needs. Tikkun Olam, healing our world, is not a singular event; it is a lifelong commitment. Each year, we provide up to five opportunities for students to engage in hands-on and educational social justice activities.
