We are thrilled to continue to offer educational programming for students well into their high school careers. Teens are welcome to join us on Tuesday evenings for a variety of programs.
9th grade Teen Tuesday (3 Tuesdays a month from 6:30 – 8:00 p.m.)
We invite 9th graders to join us weekly on Tuesday evenings for Teen Tuesdays, where they will continue their Jewish educational journeys with their peers. Previous topics have included American Jewish History and Jewish Identity through Art Making.
Tzedakah Teens (1 Tuesday a month from 6:30 – 8:00 p.m.)
The Tzedakah Teens is a monthly teen philanthropic group at Kol Tikvah for 9th – 12th graders guided by the Jewish values of kavod (dignity) and chesed (lovingkindness). Tzedakah Teens choose an important cause and spend the year researching, promoting, and fundraising for it. During the 2025-2026 school year, Tzedakah Teens raised over $3000 for the Immigrant Defenders Law Center. If your student is enrolled in Confirmation they will be automatically enrolled in Tzedakah Teens.
Confirmation (3 Tuesdays a month from 6:30 – 8:00 p.m.)
Confirmation is offered to 10th to 12th grade students who are excited to ask big questions about Judaism. These weekly classes do not just help build your child’s connection to Judaism, but they provide the space for them to wrestle with our ancient and modern texts and ideas. They will have the opportunity to ask: How do I be a good person? What if I don’t believe in God? What does Judaism mean to me? Confirmation culminates with a Confirmation Shabbat Service, led by the confirmation students. During the 2026-2027 school year, Tzedakah Teens will be a mandatory component of Confirmation.
Madrich Program (Weekly on Sundays from 8:30 – 11:30 a.m. with bi-monthly workshops directly following Religious School from 11:45 – 12:45 p.m.)
The madrich (teaching assistant) program provides teens with the opportunity to gain valuable experiences working with and inside the KTRS community. Through hands-on classroom time, educational workshops, and cohort mentoring, madrichim will learn about the educational process and what it means to be a role-model for the younger members of our community. The Madrichim program is open to 9th-12th graders who have had their B’nai Mitzvah. An interview is necessary to be accepted into the program.
